Learn how to teach your kids to fish – and help them do it! No experience necessary. Children of
all ability levels between the ages of 8 and 15 are welcome. Fishing regulations, ethics, safety
and techniques will be covered before fishing. Font Hill Wetland Park pond is a restricted
fishing area. Adults (16 and over) may help their children fish, but may not fish themselves
without a license. Led by Susan Sanger of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources along with
Slow and steady always wins the race! Come to Port Discovery to celebrate the Tortoise and Hare and all of the great lessons we learned from the classic children’s book! Enjoy dancing and singing with the Kindersinger: Tortoise and Hare program. Build early literacy skills in our Mother Goose on the Loose® program, and create tortoise and hare headbands to gear up for your own race! Plus, make-and-take fun art projects at our Pop-Up Art and STEM Stations!
Broadway Live is back, at the Showroom in Motor House with food, drinks, and a fun night out for Broadway Lovers and friends!
In addition to a chance to perform, the event will include improv, games, lip-sync battles, food and drinks. The event is divided into two acts, Act 1 for families and kids and Act 2 for adults 18 and over.

The Perseids is one of the best meteor showers to experience, producing up to 60 meteors per hour at its peak! It is produced by comet Swift-Tuttle, which was discovered in 1862. The Perseids are famous for producing a large number of bright, luminous meteors. The shower runs annually from July 17 to August 24. It peaks this year on the night of August 12 and the morning of August 13. The thin crescent moon will set early in the evening leaving dark skies for what should be an excellent show. Best viewing will be from a dark location after midnight.
Help us celebrate the founding of the Peale, opened as a Museum and Gallery of Fine Art by artist Rembrandt Peale on August 15, 1814, with 5 days of tours, talks, film, silhouette cutting, song, storytelling, poetry, garden parties, a makers’ market, food, drink and more from August 15-19, 2018!

11am-12pm: Tours and talks on the restoration and recreation of the Peale’s historic gas lights inside the Peale and on its grounds, by BGE gas light engineers and historians.
