This year’s Ensemble-in-Residence, Musica Spira, and the Choir of St. David’s join forces to bring to life celestial music from the cloisters of the Baroque era.
Despite rigorous ecclesiastical sanctions on the musical activities of cloistered women, music-making flourished across the seventeenth century in Italian convents. A significant number of nuns became esteemed composers and performers, among them some of the most prolific composers of the time.

Hop on this daring, immersive real-time dopamine chase tracing how Blaire Postman’s unique comedy (fueled by a rollercoaster of rabbit-holes in flip-chart form) at first revealed to her the unexpected connections of life’s intricacies, then panned out further to expose the true nature of her own brain.
The spring program will feature Mozart’s Mass in F, an exquisite, spirited composition from one of the great masters. The program features a collection of favorite madrigals including works by Morley, Graves, and Gibbons. The concert will conclude with an ethereal composition entitled Song of the Universal, a piece scored for voices, piano, and strings, by contemporary composer Ola Gjeilo.
