Jeremy Stern, the Creative Alliance’s Exhibitions and Programs Manager, hosts this monthly opportunity for artists to receive feedback on their developing projects. Each participant should bring up to three examples of their work, or works-in-progress, and look forward to spirited group discussion. Constructive comments are provided for all participants.

Winnie Foster longs for a life outside the control of her domineering mother. While lost in the woods, she happens upon Jesse Tuck, a boy unlike any she’s ever met before. The Tuck family hold a powerful secret, and Winnie must decide whether to return to her life or stay with the Tucks.
World-class musicians from the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and Peabody Conservatory volunteer their talents for this concert to increase awareness and support for the hungry. All proceeds from the series benefit the Maryland Food Bank. Audience members are also invited to bring non-perishable food items for donation.
Sidi Touré is a highly acclaimed practitioner of Songhaï Music with two Malian National Arts Awards for best singer. Touré led Gao’s regional orchestra, The Songhaï Stars, prior to going out on his own. In 2011, he released Sahel Folk, his debut album for Thrill Jockey Records, touring North America and Europe for the first time. For his fourth release, Toubalbero (a big traditional drum used to call and gather people in Gao), Touré has created a danceable, dynamic, and joyous album played with some of the most exciting new faces on the Mailian music scene.
Mix together a group of extraordinarily talented musicians with a long list of experience in the music field, add in a love and deep respect for the music of the band Chicago and you have Beginnings: The Premier Tribute To Chicago.

New dramatic, traditional and contemporary works all come together as BTM presents: Innovations 2017-2018. Composer Ryan Lucas has been commissioned to create another new work for BTM. Marc Galibre’sAthletic and powerful Vortex returns; and the classical short version of Raymonda makes its BTM debut. Additional new and returning works will be announced at a later date.

Young Celtic hotshots, The East Pointers are a trio from Prince Edward Island, on Canada’s east coast, who mix stomping rhythms and virtuoso instrumental work. Over the last few years, their dazzling musicianship and wildly entertaining live shows have connected them with audiences right across the globe. Fiddler/singer Tim Chaisson and his banjo-playing cousin, Koady Chaisson, come from a family who have been musicians for seven generations.
Senior Dance Concert

The UMBC Department of Dance presents the Senior Dance Concert, featuring new works that explore the past, present, and future of the human experience through elaborate and exciting movement.
Tickets: $12 general admission, $7 students and seniors. Available online (to be announced) and at the box office.
Orphaned and alone except for an uncle, Hugo Cabret lives in the walls of a train station in 1930s Paris. Accompanied by the goddaughter of an embittered toy merchant, Hugo embarks on a quest to solve the mystery of the automaton and find a place he can call home. Free admission for all children under the age of 13 when accompanied by an adult.
Join the Baltimore Jazz Alliance and The Royal Theater and Community Heritage Corporation in a celebration of Jazz Appreciation Month, featuring Baltimore jazz artists Spice and the Audrey Haskins Quartet. This FREE concert will be held at The Avenue Bakery, 2229 Pennsylvania Ave in Baltimore, and will also feature food and drink, a raffle with great prizes, and BJA’s own Musical Instrument Petting Zoo, a chance for young children to learn about and experience the instruments of jazz.

Tareq Rantisi was born in Jerusalem, Palestine. In 2008, Tareq received the Al-Qattan Foundation Music Scholarship to attend the prestigious Berklee College of Music in the United States, receiving a degree in Percussion Performance and graduating with highest honors (2012). Tareq’s studies brought him into a deep dialogue with styles from jazz to Afro-Cuban to Carnatic Indian to Brazilian and more.
