UMBC Percussion Ensemble
The Department of Music presents the UMBC Percussion Ensemble under the direction of Tom Goldstein. The UMBC Percussion Ensemble is a dedicated performing group of advanced percussion students. The ensemble is adventurous in its programming, with a repertoire that includes graphic-notation pieces, improvisational works, and theatre, as well as works by important early percussion composers, such as Alan Hovhaness, John Cage, and Carlos Chavez.

McDaniel College Band Concert
Directed by Linda Kirkpatrick, senior lecturer in music, the College Band features nearly 50 musicians, including McDaniel students, as well as McDaniel faculty members, band alumni and community musicians, performing everything from classical to pops.
A Christmas Carol: The Musical
Havre de Grace High School puts on their own rendition of a holiday classic performance about a grumpy old man who learns to love again.
Revelry, Sorrow, Desire
The Opera Workshop (Sammy Huh, director) and the Collegium Musicum (Paula Maust, interim director) present a program of baroque opera scenes from Marc-Antoine Charpentier’s La descente d’Orphée aux enfers, Henry Purcell’s The Fairy-Queen, and Francesco Cavalli’s La Statira, principessa di Persia. Join them for an hour of exquisite music and action-packed drama that spans the gamut of human emotion. UMBC students will showcase Euridice’s joy followed by Orpheus’s despair, the merriment of fairies and a drunken poet, and a complicated love triangle laced with humor.

The Queer Gayme Show Network will feature DC rock & soul band The CooLots, local activist/writer/artist Ignacio Rivera, and more amazing acts to be announced.
Ballet Chesapeake Presents “The Nutcracker”
Join Ballet Chesapeake for a grand performance of the holiday classic ballet, “The Nutcracker” at Towson University with a breathtaking score by world-renowned composer, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Complete with grand-scale backdrops and fanciful costumes, Clara, the Sugar Plum Fairy and the Sugar Plum Fairy’s Cavalier are sure to delight guests of all ages. Ticket prices range from $19.00 - $25.00 if purchased in advance and $30.00 at the door. Saturday, December 8 at 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. and Sunday, December 9 at 1:00 p.m.

The wildly popular Mortified, produced by Alex Hewett and Adam Ruben, stars everyday adults sharing their most embarrassingly real teenage diary entries, poems, love letters, lyrics, and locker notes ... in front of total strangers. Tonight, of course, expect some seasonally inappropriate memories. Ho ho ho?

Handel Messiah
No holiday season is complete without a performance of this great masterwork, including the iconic "Hallelujah" Chorus. A recording of this perennial BSO favorite is released this season on Naxos featuring conductor Edward Polochick and many of the soloists on this performance.

Bill Charlap Solo Jazz Piano - One Performance Only!
Grammy award winning pianist Bill Charlap has performed with many of the leading artists of our time including Phil Woods, Tony Bennett, Gerry Mulligan, Wynton Marsalis, Freddy Cole and Houston Person. Born in New York City, Charlap began playing the piano at age three. His father was Broadway composer Moose Charlap, whose credits include Peter Pan, and his mother is singer Sandy Stewart, who toured with Benny Goodman, and was a regular on the Perry Como show.

Interplay: Mark Liu and Sahun Hong
InterPlay, a joint venture of UMBC and the Peabody Institute, began in 2016 as a way to connect UMBC undergraduate music majors with Peabody graduate students for their mutual benefit. Since that time, the partnership has evolved to include an innovative, interactive performance in Earl and Darielle Linehan Concert Hall, and a four-session teaching project, which to date have included master classes, chamber music coaching, audition preparation seminars and mock audition panels. For this performance, violist Mark Liu will collaborate with pianist Sahun Hong.
