Dear Educators and Parents,
I am putting together a community poetry project for kids. Adults can play along too.
For several years, I have run an annual poetry writing project. For one month, participants receive a daily writing prompt related to a theme. (In 2014 we wrote in response to Pantone paint colors; in 2019 the theme was Food). The goal is to write and share a newly drafted poem with the group every day. It’s a way of practicing writing with others.
Get up and move, learn, and smile with artists and teachers who are excited to spend time with you! The Arts & Learning Kids TV show brings school lessons to life in your living room every weekend with fun and engaging arts-based learning for kids!
Episodes are tailored to lessons for students by grade levels: Explorers (preK-K), Discoverers (1st & 2nd), and Adventurers (3rd-5th)!
We are excited to announce the Bern Unit’s new radical reading collective!! What better way to dance on the ashes of the old world run by billionaires and sweep them into the dustbin of history than to strengthen community knowledge! Join our new reading group and discuss how to build collective power in the time of coronavirus and beyond (we have so much material to work with!) We’ll be tackling readings and videos from thinkers across the globe and brainstorming practical application in this incredible moment in human history.
CIVIL HANDS UNCLEAN is a modern companion piece to William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, written by Resident Artist Neal Gallini-Burdick. This experience is FREE and non-participatory. Once you text “START” to 410-657-2581, the play will continue to its end until you specify otherwise. Standard text messaging rates apply. Share with your friends and follow along together!
Suggested age 16+ for some language and sexual references. Parental guidance suggested.
"We are launching a new series called Five Minute Histories. Each day, we’ll record a short video about a different historic place in Baltimore. My on-site production crew consists of my 14 year old daughter and 15 year old son, and we are honoring Governor Hogan’s request and are doing this from home.
We’re back with our third ”Five Minute Histories" feature: Art and Innovation in Station North! With this video, we are continuing our a new series called "Five Minute Histories." Each day, we’ll record a short video about a different historic place in Baltimore and post it on our Facebook page and website.
We are honoring Governor Hogan’s request and are doing this from home.
MIC is back with another in our "Remotely Funny" series of video improv comedy scenes. Laugh while physically distant from us!
BNHA 3rd Annual History Through Arts Competition
The Baltimore National Heritage Area (BNHA) invites Baltimore City youth to participate in our 3rd Annual History Through Arts Competition. The purpose of this contest is to engage City youth in an art exhibit showcasing their unique talents while also expressing their view of life in Baltimore City. The expectation is that the artwork will reflect Baltimore’s historic people, places, significant architecture or represent a historical event.
