Join us for the Discovery Center Swing for Science golf fundraiser on September 20, 2024, at Ruggles Golf Course. The event features a full day of golfing and networking, starting with breakfast and access to the range at 8am, a shotgun start at 9am, lunch on the course at noon, and concluding with dinner at the Discovery Center at 3pm. Registration is $120 per golfer ($90 for Ruggles members), including golf, cart, meals, beverages, and prize holes. Sponsorship opportunities range from $150 to $1,000, Beverage Cart Sponsor, and more, each with unique recognition benefits.

What do animals need to survive? Join us to learn where animals live and how different habitats are best suited for certain creatures, then pick your favorite animal to create a habitat for. Tickets must be reserved in advance as workshops will have limited attendance.

Join us for a day of excitement, exploration, and learning, all by the way of play! Embark on a self-guided journey throughout three floors of fun that Port Discovery has to offer, as well as tap into special workshops offered just for our homeschoolers on these days!

Diesel Days are Back!

Come out to see the B&O No. 3802, MARC No. 7100, Conrail No. 8905, B&O No. 6405, and more in action! See the locomotives run and learn more about them!

Attendees will ride the Mile One Express to the staging area, where there will be ample opportunity for photos, videos, and any questions about the B&O’s diesel fleet!

Indulge in our adult after-hours “field trips” for a night of play at the museum over cocktails. Join in the hands-on fun the BMI is known for: become a worker in an 1880s oyster cannery, build and test a rocket, design a roller coaster using household items, and more to activate your inner child. Cash bar provided by Stem and Vine (the first drink is on us!) This is a 21+ event.

Enjoy medieval themed programming presented by our education experts at Port Discovery! As part of this special program, our education experts will be offering a variety of activities that promote social and hands-on learning.

New date alert! The 11th annual Doors Open Baltimore is moving to late October to coincide with the National Organization for Minority Architects (NOMA) Conference and Exposition coming to Baltimore. This year’s city-wide celebration will feature a new format for open houses on Sat. Oct. 26 and guided tours throughout the entire month of October.

1115 W. Lanvale St. is a fine 1896 townhouse designed in a Sächsische, Sachsen-Anhalt, Thüringen Revival-Romanesque style, mixed with Jugendstil, and German Classical style encountered in eastern German cities including Dresden, Altenburg, Halle, and Leipzig. Architect John E. Laferty also designed the Paca Street Firehouse (106 North Paca St.), amongst other buildings and churches in Baltimore.
