AMICIMUSIC PRESENTS THE WEISER/LISTON-KRAFT PIANO DUO

AmiciMusic presents the Weiser/Liston-Kraft Piano Duo featuring pianistsDaniel Weiser and Philip Liston-Kraft. This program, entitled "Four-Hand Frolic," will feature some great works arranged for four-hand piano, (i.e. twenty fingers on a single piano) including some Mozart, Moszkowski, Scott Joplin, and Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue." The Weiser/Liston-Kraft Piano Duo has been described as "simply a force of pianistic energy" who play with "a seamless and tightly knit unity," and who "absolutely smoke the 88 keys." They have been bringing their captivating, virtuosic, and high energy performances to audiences across the U.S. for over ten years. Most certainly the only piano duo who both attended Harvard Law School, Weiser and Liston-Kraft bring a flair for the dramatic and a high-wire musical choreography that make their concerts a visual and sonic spectacle.
Dr. Daniel Weiser is the founder and Artistic Director of AmiciMusic, a new chamber music organization based in Baltimore (and Asheville, NC) that is dedicated to performing great chamber music in intimate spaces and non-traditional venues. He also aims to break down the barriers between performers and audience by giving short talks about each piece before it is played and by establishing a more relaxed and informal atmosphere at all concerts. For over twenty years, he has performed in private homes, bars, music halls, and town halls in order to take the stuffiness out of classical music and give it the energy and excitement it needs and deserves. After graduating from Columbia University with a degree in American History and spending a year at Harvard Law School at the same time as President Obama, Weiser finally took the plunge and entered the music world by getting his Doctorate in Piano/Chamber Music at Peabody Conservatory. While there, he won the U.S. Artistic Ambassador Competition, which sent him on a two month concert and masterclass tour of eleven countries in the Middle East and Southeast Asia. After teaching and performing music for many years at Dartmouth College, St. Paul's School, and UNC Asheville, Weiser recently moved back to Baltimore and has brought his AmiciMusic series with him, with monthly chamber music concerts featuring top musicians from the region and from around the world.
Philip Liston-Kraft performed as a piano soloist with the Boston Pops at the age of 16. After attending Harvard University as an undergraduate with degrees in music and biochemistry, he attended Tufts University School of Medicine and briefly worked as a Psychiatrist. He then attended Harvard Law School and is currently Associate General Counsel at Biogen Idec as well as one of the "Lawyers in Love with Music," a musical group based in Provincetown, MA. Since 2005, he has also been a German instructor in the Rassias Language Program at Dartmouth College and was also formerly a competitive ballroom dancer.
