Artist Thea Osato, who is also a highly-regarded window dresser, presents her first solo exhibition in over 15 years this December in the Creative Alliance’s Amalie Rothschild Gallery. Her interpretive portraiture, executed in pastels, explores commonalities between neighbors, friends, historical, and cultural figures alike. Most of her portraits are created without the model present, relying instead on her feelings about the subject, the power of memory and cultural imagery to inform her choices. Osato describes her new work as “time traveled portraits from the ether, memory, love and awe.”
