ABOUT AFRO PUNK BALLET
Levi, a brilliant military scientist with a unique spiritual knowledge of space and time creates a second sun. The unprecedented devastation of his sun brings the nation’s inhabitants near extinction. Levi’s unwillingness to face the realities of his creation, leaves his eldest daughter and successor, Corfaszia, to restore order to the land. Jakub, the younger of the two daughters, with a deep connection to the spirit world, is forced into exile.

Singer / songwriter / performer Dr. Ross Martin has created a truly unique experience for audiences with his original musical, Miss Isabella Rainsong and Her Traveling Companion: A One-Guitar Show. Part play, part acoustic concert, this show is a vehicle for sharing intimate, profound, touching and funny Magical Moments.

Grammy-nominated pianist and composer Alex Brown is emerging at the forefront of a new generation of artists. The New York Times says he plays “with a crystalline touch and a worldly approach.” He has played with revered Latin Jazz great Paquito D'Rivera since 2007 and contributed arrangements to D'Rivera's Grammy award-winning album Jazz Meets the Classics. Brown has performed at many of the world's greatest venues including Jazz at the Lincoln Center in New York City, the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, and the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City.
Now in its seventh year, OneBeat brings musicians (ages 19-35) from around the world to the U.S. for one month each fall to collaboratively write, produce, and perform original music, and develop strategies for arts-based social engagement. OneBeat begins with an opening residency, when Fellows collaborate to create original material, record new musical ideas, and incubate their projects. OneBeat fellows then go on tour, performing for a wide array of American audiences, collaborating with local musicians, and leading workshops with youth.

This upbeat“backstage tour” includes both bodacious and poignant songs, cherry- picked from more than five decades of Broadway’s best. Join us for a musical celebration of Bernstein and Gershwin’s Centennial Anniversary. The program will include songs by Gershwin and Bernstein, arrangements of selected songs from Porgy and Bess for violin and piano, a work inspired by Embraceable You for flute and piano, selected movements from Bernstein’s Piano Trio, Bernstein’s Anniversaries for the Piano, and a two-piano arrangement of Gershwin’s Cuban Overture.

The Anansi Trio, featuring Mark Merella, Matt Belzer (director of jazz studies at UMBC), and Larry Melton, celebrate the launch of their debut album, On the Path, with an afternoon of jazz.
Join us for al fresco dining on S. High Street and a free outdoor concert by Time for a Change Jazz Quartet as Little Italy celebrates Columbus Day. The Parade winds down Pratt Street to Exeter from 1-3pm and the band plays from 3-5pm. Other activities include a bocce tournament, market and DJ on Stiles Street. The winning Madonnari Grand Barrel Raffle Ticket will be selected at the conclusion of the festivities.
