Baltimoreans celebrated atop Federal Hill when we ratified the U.S. Constitution. We used it to defend the city from the British in the War of 1812 and to make sure we stayed in the Union in the Civil War. We have even tunneled under it to quarry minerals. Join us on a tour of Federal Hill and the neighborhood around it to learn about this waterfront community’s rich history, including stops at one of the last wooden houses in the city, the oldest house in Federal Hill, and the wonderful alley houses along Churchill Street.
Did you know that the Continental Congress met in downtown Baltimore? Or that Abraham Lincoln just barely escaped an assisination attempt there? Or that German agents plotted sabotage on Charles Street during World War I? Downtown has layers and layers of history! Please join us and our tour guide, Mr. Jefferson Gray, as we explore downtown Baltimore from its earliest days through the Civil War, the labor unrest of the Gilded Age, the Great Fire of 1904 and the Civil Rights Movement.

Mike 'n' Ike will provide the house rhythm section, while Germano's provides a fabulous bar featuring everything from fresh carrot juice to old whiskey, plus fantastic food, all in a comfortable bar in the heart of Little Italy. VOICES OF CARMEN is a musical adaptation of the opera Carmen and a new work developed through youth centered conversation and collaboration. This original production written, directed, and choreographed by CJay Philip, will debut in Baltimore, MD July 30th - August 2nd, 2019 before being presenting at the Kennedy Center's Millennium Stage, Aug 3rd.
This show set in a High School, is filled with fresh yet familiar renditions of George Bizet’s compositions, as well as a dozen original songs from pop to hip hop and R&B.
In a story depicted in oil painted animation, a young man comes to the last hometown of painter Vincent van Gogh to deliver the troubled artist's final letter and ends up investigating his final days there.
On August 1st The American Visionary Art Museum is screening Coraline on the outdoor theater. Bring a blanket and a picnic to enjoy a free movie night with your family and loved ones under the stars. Museum is open for free between 5:15PM and 9PM on Flicks nights. Movies are screened rain or shine. Rain location: JRVC 3rd floor. Free films every thursday starting July through August 22nd at 9PM under AVAM's giant golden hand.
Join us at the Alchemy of Art for the opening reception of Minas Konsolas: CubiCity.
By working with collage on canvas, Konsolas depicts Baltimore's architecture with a warm, patchwork effect, reminiscent of a comfortable quilt. These pieces are his way of embracing the city that he loves so much.
Admission is free. The show runs August 1 - 25. There will also be a closing reception on Sunday, August 25, 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Gallery hours are Thursday - Saturday 12:30 pm - 6:30 pm, Sunday 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm.

This internationally acclaimed classic tells the story of a young boy who becomes fascinated by a mysterious Arabian stallion on board the ship he is sailing on. When it tragically sinks, the boy and the horse are the only survivors stranded a desert island. The boy befriends the horse, and when finally rescued, they return home together and begin training to race against the fastest horses in the world. FREE FOR CHILDREN UNDER 13!

The story goes that Queen Elizabeth I was so enamored with the character of Falstaff that she demanded to see a play about sweet Jack in love. Shakespeare delivered as only he could, with one of his most free-wheeling and manic comedies. Rolling into Windsor flat broke, Falstaff decides he’ll woo two wealthy women—instead, he becomes the butt of every joke they can imagine.
