The Right Hand Forgets the Left

Ellie Works presents The Right Hand Forgets the Left, a body of new paintings in which images of decay sit beside soccer games, French portraiture, bowls of apples, and bedrooms. Built from experimentation and whatever Works drags back to the studio, from lamp shades to Dunkin’ cups to chair legs, the paintings carry visible traces of doubt, indecision, and time: faint outlines of painted over forms, dense textures beside thin fields of color, stranded staples from material long since removed. For Works, doubt is as structural to a painting as color or composition. Opening Saturday, July 11th, from 6–9pm.
