Baltimore Museum of Arts seeks Human Resources & Payroll Manager

The Baltimore Museum of Art (BMA) is seeking an experienced Human Resources & Payroll Manager to provide administration of human resources policies, procedures and programs. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: payroll; employee relations; benefits administration; employment; electronic timekeeping; and on-boarding. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented professional with strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work with people at all levels of the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Process all new employees to include offer letters, pre-employment screening, and processing all new hire paperwork
  • Benefit Administration including ensuring timely reporting of all new hires, terminations, and status changes; FSA plan; Long and Short Term Disability plans, and all other benefits programs. Oversee annual open enrollment for all plans
  • Assist with 403b Retirement Savings Plan and 457 Top Hat Plan administration, and oversee annual 403b audit
  • Oversee HRIS and Payroll systems, including ACA reporting; federal grant tracking; financial audit reporting; and reconciliation of payroll expenses
  • Oversee Electronic Timekeeping System
  • Process bi-weekly payroll
  • Oversee BMA participation in Federal Work Study Program with Johns Hopkins University including budgeting and billing processes
  • Unemployment and Worker’s Compensation insurance and claims administration including annual audit.
  • Ensure that all personnel records are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Act as an employee relations resource for colleagues across organization

This full-time, exempt position reports to the Director of Human Resources in the Finance & Administration Division

QUALIFICATIONS • Positive attitude and an ability to represent the Museum internally and externally • Bachelor’s Degree or professional experience equivalent • 3-5 years of human resource and/or payroll experience; non-profit experience preferred • Experience with regulatory concerns and reporting including, but not limited to EEOC, ADA, FMLA, ACA • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a customer-service based human resources approach and a proven ability to manage multiple priorities • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced experience in word processing and spreadsheet preparation • Understanding of financial reporting and accounting a plus BENEFITS The BMA is an equal opportunity employer and a drug-free workplace.
