RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Chair of the Music Department, the General Assistant will work closely with the PAHB Building Manager, Music Manager and Business Services Specialist, Director of Recording, Music Technical Coordinator, Music Administrative Assistant, Music Faculty, and guest artists. Specific duties include: coordinating and/or supervising all events in the Concert Hall and Music Box, including faculty recording/research; coordinating front of house (including regular updating of department concert/event publicity webpage); training and supervising students who work in front and back of house; coordinating more than 125 student, faculty, and guest artist rehearsals, performances, masterclasses, workshops, festivals, competitions, and recording sessions per year in a 400-seat Concert Hall, and Recital/Rehearsal Room (The Music Box) in the new UMBC Performing Arts and Humanities Building; and performing other duties as assigned. The Music Concert Coordinator will need to be available to work a flexible schedule, often outside of regular 9:00-5:00 work hours, to carry out the required duties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires a Bachelor’s degree. Must be familiar with the logistics of classical and jazz music performances and have been successful in leading and participating in collaborative projects. Web experience and theater lighting experience preferred.

SALARY:
Salary commensurate with education and experience. This is a temporary, Contingent I position and does not include benefits. Initial contract is for a period of six months with possibility of renewal.
