GivingTuesday was founded 10 years ago to establish “a day that encourages people to do good.” A decade later, thousands of nonprofits are participating in this global generosity movement. Though the number of organizations simultaneously vying for goodwill can be overwhelming, there is something to be said about a large-scale effort that encourages generosity. Last year, 35 million people around the globe participated in GivingTuesday!
In a world where we often hear from and about bad actors, this day serves as a warm reminder that so many are committed to supporting people and organizations that are making a difference in their communities.
Here at GBCA, we believe that every member of our cultural community - from our world-class museums, theaters, and cultural centers, to our grassroots arts collectives and individual artists - makes a significant contribution to our region’s quality of life.
Baltimore needs arts and culture, and our cultural community needs the Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance
Thanks to our incredible family of supporters, this year GBCA promoted thousands of events on its Culture Fly events calendar; strengthened the cultural workforce by connecting job seekers to employers through its JobsPlus employment listing site; deepened its work providing equity and inclusion resources to the sector; and awarded $90,000 in funding to artists.
