Print/Graphic Designer

The BMA is seeking a Print/Digital Designer to create compelling, branded design solutions for digital, print, environmental signage, and social media to support communication needs of the BMA.

The Print/Digital Designer’s creative output embodies and strengthens the BMA brand, accommodates ADA accessibility standards, and reflects strategic trends and best practices in the design industry.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Works with internal department partners throughout the Museum to understand their target audiences, key objectives, and timeline required for creative requests, then manages projects from design concept through final production (printing, fabrication, animation, and otherwise).
  • Design production – update existing designs and carry new concepts through typography, layout, image selection, and editing phases
  • Design concepting – create and present concepts for print, digital, social media, and environmental signage for institutional and exhibition-related initiatives (membership campaigns, visitor services)
  • Work collaboratively with Image Services & Rights team to select and accurately represent artworks in creative materials, including color proofing against actual objects

This full-time, exempt position reports to the Senior Designer in the Digital Experience & Communications Division.

QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor’s Degree, basic knowledge of Art History preferred • 2-3 years graphic design experience, including typography, color, composition, grid as they apply to print and digital media • Proficiency in Adobe CC InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator; experience in Adobe After Effects highly preferred • Strong communication, presentation and time management skills • Knowledge of best practices for digital, print, social, and some environmental design: image resolution & file types, color building, type point sizes • Knowledge of print process & management: specifications, quotations, preflight, press checks BENEFITS The BMA is an equal opportunity employer and a drug-free workplace.
