At VLP, we honor lifelong learning and understand the importance of starting early and making it fun. We hope you join us for our Tots Tuesday Storytime for toddlers & preschoolers! Tots Tuesday Storytime is an interactive storytime for children ages 2–4 years old and their parents/caregivers.

In need of help with your technology after the holidays? Do you need help completing the online YouthWorks application for a summer job? If so, come in to the library for free tech help.
The VLP Librarian will assist patrons with the following skills:
WHAT’S NEXT? FEST will feature a small college fair, Youthworks Application Assistance, and other neighborhood vendors like Mission Fit, Maryland 529, and BYKE Collective. Each vendor will feature opportunities and information their organization offers for teens and their families. There will also be free food and music.

A New Show About Romantic Love

Created and performed by Alex and Olmsted, HUBBA HUBBA is a collection of vignettes using puppetry and movement to explore different aspects of romantic love.
From the dawn of life to modern romance and beyond, HUBBA HUBBA is a comedy that incorporates handmade mechanical objects, puppets, trick costumes, and masks to investigate the many different qualities of love’s triumphs and love’s obstacles.
Spend Spring Break with the whole family at Port Discovery! Join in spring-themed performances, art projects, stories and hands-on experiences that’ll be sure to bring some cheer and milestone moments this spring season. Watch the hilarious Happenstance Theatre’s Pinot & Augustine clown duo. Learn about wildlife relationships with water and how to help them out. Don’t forget to stop by during Eggsploration Weekend from April 7th-10th for some hands-on activities! Make sure to bring your own egg basket/carton on April 10th at 10am for our egg hunt.
Rise with a Purpose is a 501c3 non-profit providing assistance to the homeless, social reform, community-based music projects & cultural exchange programs. Songwriter, Poet, Actor & BSO Artistic Partner, Wordsmith, will be opening up a new music school and moving his non profit into the historic Harlem Theater off North Gilmore Street between 2023-2024.

Spring Break Camp is designed to be safe and creative play during Spring Break, Monday through Thursday. Fun Days will include an afternoon snack, homework, games, crafts, and physical fitness. This is a fee-based service. Registration is required by Wednesday, March 22nd.

The Highlandtown Arts District is welcoming spring with 18 galleries and shops opening their doors for First Friday Art Walk! In addition to our 31+ artists and makers featured this month, you won't want to miss the soft opening of our new maker's space, Locality, an artisan boutique. Casa de la culura is launching their "Migrant Gallery" in collaboration with Casa Venezuela and with muscial performances starting at 6pm. We are definitely hearing the music this April.
Maryland Art Place (MAP) is happy to continue KIDOOO, a youth version of Out of Order! KIDOOO was created as an opportunity for young artists to exhibit their work in a major arts venue, expanding MAP's services to students in elementary, middle, and high school level arts classes.
The opening of KIDOOO will take place in tandem with MAP's annual Out of Order event on April 21, 2022.
The Happiest Morning in Maryland is right around the corner! Lace up and join the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Maryland for the 12th Annual Red Shoe Shuffle 5K Run & Walk on Sunday, April 16, 2023, beginning at 8:30 am. This year, we’re shuffling for the KIDS! With thousands of runners and walkers joining together as one super (and red & white striped) community, we show our RMHC families that when the going gets tough, they have our support and strength at their backs, ready to cheer them on.
Port Discovery’s Sensory Friendly Mornings provide Museum access to families who would benefit from a sensory friendly experience and quieter setting at Port Discovery two hours before opening to the general public. These mornings are designed to provide you with an opportunity to enjoy the Port Discovery experience in a sensory-modified setting, including limited admission and sound and lighting adjustments.
Sensory Friendly Mornings will include open-play opportunities throughout the Museum. No proof of qualification will be required. Pre-registration is required.
Please join us in the maintenance and enjoyment of this community space!
Our consistent primary needs are weed removal, trash removal, and overall maintenance. Additional tasks may include planting, composting, and building a vocabulary of the plants that already exist in our lovely garden!
We will provide gloves, rakes, and general garden tools – but feel free to bring your own. Snacks and water will also be provided.

In conjunction with the exhibition Compensation for Loss, come out to The Peale on Sunday, April 16, for a visit with naturalists from the Maryland Natural History Society. This event is great for kids and families.

Patricia Yolande Ciricillo – wife, mother, nurse, activist, and quilter. After leadership roles in nursing and social justice advocacy for children and against racism, she found her creative voice in the fabric arts and the stunning results have been shown regionally and nationally.
This unique exhibit will be available March 17 – April 23, 2022. Reception will be held on Sunday, March 20 at 3pm at the Bernice Kish Gallery at Slayton House – 10400 Cross Fox Lane, Columbia, MD.
