Two Suns and a Bunch of Punks

An Afro House Fundraiser and Preview of Afro Punk Ballet

Baltimore, MD – July 3, 2018 – If a jaunt through the universe is not on your summer to do list, Afro House is giving you a reason to not only add it, but to put it at the very top of your list. This month, Afro House, the Baltimore-based music-driven performance art house will celebrate the fifth concert of its series. Since starting the Afro House Concert Series in Novemver 2017, Baltimore Magazine has recognized it as a noteworthy concert series.

The Afro House Concert Series is a celebration of Baltimore’s extraordinary maker scene. The series features composer and pianist Scott Patterson on piano, Afro House ensembles (including the Astronaut Symphony), special guests, and local food, beverage, and tech makers.

Attendees are invited to join Afro House in creating Disruptive. Music. Culture. The series serves as a laboratory for the food, beverage, tech, and music makers involved. Experimentation is the rule instead of the exception. Thus, new ideas are explored in a safe and intimate setting.

The next concert in the series, Two Suns and a Bunch of Punks, will be a fundraiser for and preview of Afro Punk Ballet an afrofuturistic opera-ballet, featuring the Astronaut Symphony. This incredible contemporary ensemble, which creates symphonic performance art will perform, providing a preview of what’s to come in the fall: A co-production with Annex Theater of Afro Punk Ballet at Le Mondo in October.

Attendees will have an opportunity to select items they would like to sponsor, from the custom-made helmets that will be worn by the cast to covering the cost of a performance. Proceeds will be used for the production of Afro Punk Ballet.

Tickets provide access the preview and the scrumptious bites the featured makers will create for the event.

Two Suns and a Bunch of Punks will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2018, 7:00 p.m. at Single Carrot Theatre, 2600 N Howard Street, Baltimore, MD. Tickets for the event can be purchased here.

Another great option is to go Mixolo! Afro House is excited to partner with Mixolo, the solo-friendly social network. Mixolo’s events are designed for solo guests that would like to share their experience with others coming out to see us on their own. Come see us with Mixolo and find your plus some here.

About Afro Punk Ballet Set years into the future, Afro Punk Ballet delves into the world of two sisters unable to agree on how to handle the catastrophic consequences of a decision made by their late father, Levi, a brilliant military scientist. With a unique spiritual knowledge of space and time, Levi creates a second sun. The unprecedented devastation of his sun brings the nation’s inhabitants near extinction.

About Afro House Founded in 2011 by Alisha Patterson and Scott Patterson, Afro House is a Baltimore-based music driven performance art house. The organization is comprised of professional artists whose collective skills, knowledge and craftsmanship are channeled for the creation of art that disrupts normative ideas about human being. Musicians, dancers, designers, actors, image makers and writers push the boundaries of their own discipline so that each art form might effectively bleed into the next, creating something evolutionary.
