Baltimore’s Hippodrome Theatre at the France-Merrick Performing Arts Center is thrilled to announce WAITRESS will return for a limited two-day engagement this Fall. Featuring a score by Grammy Winner Sara Bareiles (composer of “Love Song” and “Brave”), meet Jenna, a waitress and expert pie-maker who dreams of a way out of her small town and rocky marriage.

Baltimore Choral Arts Presents Rejoice & Sing!
Rejoice & Sing! features uplifting and inspiring choral works while celebrating two women composers. Highlights include our commission of This is Our House by Alysia Lee, supported in part by the Maryland State Arts Council (msac.org), and a performance using both organs in the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen. Bach in Baltimore presents the world premiere of Hollis Thoms Requiem, written to honor and commemorate the lives lost during the COVID-19 pandemic. This original composition will be paired with Bach’s Cantata 4: Christ lag in Todesbanden (Christ lay in death’s bonds). Bach’s Cantata 4 is believed to be one of the earliest surviving cantatas composed by Bach. Featured artists include: Lisa Parente, soprano; Sonya Knussen, alto; Joseph Regan, tenor; Jason Thoms, bass; Ben Goodly, oboe; and Jonas Thoms, horn. Live/on-demand tickets are also available.

Be Irish for a day at the 48th Annual Maryland Irish Festival, set for November 12-14, 2021 at the Timonium Fairgrounds; from 6-11 p.m. on Friday; 12 noon – 11 p.m. on Saturday and on Sunday from 12 noon - 6 p.m. (festival will comply with any and all health related guidelines) There will be plenty of traditional Irish food & drink, internationally recognized musical groups, children’s activities, cultural exhibits from Ireland, festive contests, a speaker series and various vendors all contained in the spacious Cow Palace.

Following BCO’s success in Menotti’s The Consul in 2019, we start this season with another of his popular operas. Baba, the medium, is a domineering grifter who uses peoples’ grief to extract money. But in one night, things change dramatically. Her seances are fake, but are her powers real? This production will take place at BCO’s home venue, the Engineers Club of the Garrett-Jacobs Mansion, where it is an Artists in Residence.
