Port Discovery Children’s Museum and Enoch Pratt Free Library are partnering to encourage children to read, play and discover through Ticket to Discovery Book Club. Baltimore-area children in fifth grade or younger with a Pratt Library card can receive a special Ticket to Discovery bookmark from their local Pratt Library (supplies are limited). After reading or listening to five books, participants can use the unique code on the bookmark to reserve up to two free admission tickets to Port Discovery Children’s Museum via the Museum’s online ticketing system.
The Salvation Army Band, comprised of 36 brass instrument players, will be performing classics, gospels and melodious brass tunes that will get you dancing from your seat. The performance will take place at the Inner Harbor Amphitheater (200 East Pratt Street, Baltimore, MD) from noon to 1 p.m. This free concert is family friendly and open to the public. The long-awaited Joan Mitchell retrospective is almost here! Co-organized by the BMA and San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, this comprehensive exhibition follows the career of the internationally renowned artist who attained critical acclaim and success in the male-dominated art circles of 1950s New York, then spent nearly four decades in France creating breathtaking abstract paintings that evoke landscapes, memories, poetry, and music.

The BSO’s Symphony in the City series is back! Symphony in the City brings the Orchestra out of the concert hall and into community locations across Baltimore City. Led by BSO Assistant Conductor Jonathan Rush and featuring spoken word artist, Wordsmith, in partnership with the Friends of Patterson Park include a combination of classical favorites paired with pop music specially arranged for Wordsmith to perform with the BSO.

Crickets is a weekly Saturday morning class for children ages 4 to 6, engaging the body and mind in joyful music-making. Highly-trained teachers gently encourage very young children to explore the voice as their first true instrument through play, games, and movement. We offer small classes that last 50 minutes and are limited to 10 children each. The summer session is 6 weeks long with July 2nd off. Classes start Saturday, June 4th with a 9:30 or 10:40 AM start time at the Children’s Chorus of Maryland in downtown Towson.
British cellist Steven Isserlis frequently appears with the world’s leading orchestras and conductors, including the Berlin Philharmonic, National Symphony Orchestra Washington, London Philharmonic, and Zurich Tonhalle. He is also a children’s book author, publishing “Why Beethoven Threw the Stew” and “Why Handel Waggled His Wig” in 2006. Pianist Mishka Rushdie Momen will accompany Steven Isserlis.
Former Colonel of the US Army, award-winning plein air artist, and art teacher - Alfred Biegel brings his works to the Bernice Kish Gallery at Slayton House. These beautiful paintings, themed, "The Promise" - created by Biegel and his studio are available for viewing June 8-August 12. Reception will be held on June 18, 2-4pm and is open to the public.
