Join Us At Artscape!

Thank you to Good News Baltimore for producing a short video piece to celebrate GBCA’s 15th anniversary. Take a look to see Kibibi Ajanku discussing GBCA's Equity and Inclusion efforts. Kibibi and I also represented GBCA and Baltimore at the Beyond Conflict presentation hosted by Chris Bedford, the Dorothy Wallis Wagner Director of the Baltimore Museum of Art.

Earlier in the week, as part of the MEET LOCAL panel for Visit Baltimore hosted by Al Hutchinson, the new CEO, I was in the illustrious company of Bill Cole of the Baltimore Development Corporation, Jen Meyers of Betamore, Calvin Butler of Baltimore Gas and Electric, and Dr. Leana Wen Baltimore City’s Health Commissioner. What a great opportunity to talk about the many contributions of arts and culture to Baltimore’s success.

GBCA is pleased to welcome Marilyn Powel and Godson Anoruo to its team. Marilyn joins us as the Director of Development and Membership. She has guided the annual fund, capital campaign, and special projects of non-profit organizations for over 25 years. She has been Development Director for Baltimore's Center Stage, Ford's Theater in Washington, and George Street Playhouse in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Most recently, she served as Development Director at Southwest Baltimore Charter School, the Institute for Islamic, Christian and Jewish Studies, and the Fund for Educational Excellence. Godson is our new Finance Director with a deep background in financial management that includes working with the Baltimore Office of Promotion and the Arts and Baltimore City government. He also teaches at Coppin State University. I hope you will look for them at one of our upcoming events and say hello.

It’s chilly out, but summer is on our minds. Time to start dreaming about Artscape. We are taking applications from GBCA members to participate in our Culture Tent. Interested in joining us? The deadline for members to sign-up is May 24th. Not a member? You can join or renew today at GBCA’s secure website. This is a great, no-cost opportunity to shine a light on your work through performance, presentation, or volunteering to staff the booth.

All the best,
Jeannie
