Executive Director’s Letter September 3, 2019

It’s Baker time! Sharpen your pencils and fire up your computer. The 2020 Baker Artist Portfolios opened today and are waiting for your work. You won’t want to miss being a part of the area’s most robust compendium of brilliant artists. Funded by the William G. Baker, Jr. Memorial Fund and now in its 11th year, the site has been viewed by museums, creative businesses, collectors, and potential collaborators from almost every country in the world. Enthusiasts from Los Angeles to New York have discovered and reached out to purchase work from artists on the Portfolios.

Although you have until December 20th to create or update your portfolios, it’s never too early to get started. By creating or updating your portfolio, you will be eligible for one of the $10,000 Mary Sawyers Baker Prizes (one award per each of the six disciplines). In addition, one of those six artists will be selected to receive the prestigious $30,000 Mary Sawyers Imboden Prize.

Stay tuned here and on the Baker website— over the next few months we will be hosting information sessions throughout the region. Have a question about the portfolios or awards? Feel free to reach out to our super friendly and helpful Baker staff, David London and Renz Balagtas, at [email protected]. To get started on your portfolio this year, please visit www.bakerartist.org.

New this year at GBCA created our first-ever Baltimore Theatre Season Guide. If you don’t see your organization on the list, it’s not too late to be included. Follow this link to add your organization's season.

Happy September,
