Executive Director’s Letter December 10, 2019

Thank you to all our friends who contributed to GBCA’s Giving Tuesday campaign! Your support of Urban Arts Leadership and the National Endowment for the Arts matching grant are deeply appreciated. We met our goal of raising $5,000, but are still working toward matching the full amount of the grant--$20,000, so there is still time to help. Your gift will help further the careers of talented emerging leaders of color and build greater equity in the cultural sector. You can make a year-end gift on GBCA’s secure website here.

Are things a little quiet this Monday night? Looking for a way to get into the holiday spirit? Come on out to the GBCA Holiday Happy Hour from 6 to 8 PM at the Motor House. As per tradition, we’ll be celebrating in GBCA’s offices with good food, drink, and cheer. I hope you can make it. It just wouldn’t be the same without you. You can get your tickets here.

Amid the hustle and bustle of the holidays, area artists are putting the finishing touches on their Baker Artist Portfolios. Be sure to take time to explore the entire site, which is chock full of the work of talented artists. Who knows, you may just find a piece of work that would make a perfect gift. As for you artists, the deadline is looming! If you are having technical challenges, or want to discuss the strategy for your presentation, there are still work sessions available. You can find out more information and sign up here.

If the holiday or year-end stress is weighing on you, remember that kindness is contagious. Warmth and caring go a long way toward a happy life, give a little and get a lot.

All my best,
