Executive Director's Letter January 21st 2020

January 21, 2020

“We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope.”
-The Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr.

With the dawn of 2020 and the celebration of Martin Luther King Day, I am mindful of how hope and action are intrinsically tied to one another. Beware of forces that wish to silence you with despair and remember this is your city, your state, your country, and your world. You are part of “We the people.” Don’t misinterpret your disappointment as defeat. Your voice and your work are necessary to battling violence, hopelessness, and injustice.

“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”
-The Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr.

It’s a match! The placements for Urban Arts Leadership Cohort 2020 are as follows:

We’re extremely excited for the coming months and grateful to be partners with our host organizations and this amazing cohort of rising leaders.

The nasty weather on Saturday forced the rescheduling of An Afternoon of Artistic Excellence. Mark your calendar today for the new date, February 22 at The Walters Art Museum. It will be a spectacular event featuring Carl Grubbs, Joyce J. Scott, CJay Philip, Todd Marcus, Lafayette Gilchrist, Bashi Rose, ellen cherry, and Meshelle, the Indie Mom of Comedy.

All my best,

Jeannie
