Student Usher
DESCRIPTION:
Under the direction of the House Manager, Student Ushers ensure that patrons have the best possible experience at SHCS. In addition to directing patrons to their seats, stuffing inserts in programs, and assisting to seat late patrons, ushers serve as ticket-takers, program handlers, lobby attendants, and help clean the concert hall after the performance. Most importantly, Student Ushers create a safe, friendly, and welcoming atmosphere for all patrons attending performances. Orientation is required for all Student Ushers. Compensation is $60/concert.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ticket Scanners: A Scanner stands by the point of entry and scans tickets for admittance to the hall.
Seaters: Seaters escort patrons to their seats and ensure that each patron has a copy of the program book, Prelude. Seaters report any seating problems to the House Manager.
Stage Guards: A Stage Guard stands by the stage and ensures that no patron walks up or places an item on the stage. Stage Guards also stand by the fire exits to make sure the Artists can move from the dressing rooms to the backstage area easily and without disturbance from audience members.
Backstage Guards: A backstage guard protects designated backstage areas and prevents audience members from entering unauthorized areas.
Please note: There may be additional responsibilities assigned as needed for any individual concert.
TO APPLY: Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis. Please send cover letter and resume to SHCS Audience Development & Production Coordinator, Marissa Scotti at [email protected] with the subject line, "Student Usher 2025-26".
