The adjudicated contest will award a talented songwriter a grand prize of $10,000. A young songwriter who is 17 or younger will also be honored with $2,500. Both individual songwriters and bands are encouraged to apply. Each finalist receives $500 for performing at the concert on March 6, 2015.
Applicants are invited to submit three original songs. (Two original songs are required in the 17 and under category.) All musical genres are accepted, and each song must have lyrics.
The contest will be a multi-staged, juried competition. Judges will select finalists for the Bernard/Ebb Songwriting Award who will perform on Friday, March 6, 2015, at the Bethesda Blues and Jazz Club in Bethesda, MD. A live audience will hear two songs from each of the finalists. The grand prize winner will be announced at the close of the show.
