GBCA will be hosting the Association for Performing Arts Service Organizations’ (APASO) Conference

Executive Director's Letter
April 7, 2015

In just two weeks, GBCA will be hosting the Association for Performing Arts Service Organizations’ (APASO) national conference in Baltimore. April 23 to 25, our colleagues from arts service organizations will come together to share ideas and learn from one another. There are special opportunities for one-day registrations so that local organizations can take advantage of the programming.

APASO is an informal group of organizations from around the world that share a mission of providing services for arts organizations and artists. Since 1983, APASO has gathered annually to share best practices in marketing, providing community-wide ticketing and audience development programs, professional development, advocacy, and other support for arts organizations and artists.

In member news, you can celebrate Earth Day on April 22 with our friends at the National Aquarium in Baltimore. Experts will teach guests how to celebrate Earth Day every day by bringing green practices into their daily lives, and will demonstrate how human action can positively or negatively impact the environment and animals. While you're there, be sure to visit the award-winning Black Tip Reef, which was recognized by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums with the honor of Significant Achievement in Exhibit Design. (I personally love the Shark cam!)

Although Maryland has recently inaugurated a new governor and the November 2016 presidential primaries are a long way off, it’s never too early to think about exercising your right to vote. If you haven’t done so already, find out how to register here.

Sending prayers to the families of Garissa University College,
