It’s awards season for artists in the Baltimore region!

It’s awards season for artists in the Baltimore region! GBCA will soon be announcing the 2016 Rubys Grants in media and performing arts. This exiting program, the brainchild of the Robert W. Deutsch Foundation, awards $120,000 for innovative projects to area artists every year. In addition to support from the Deutsch Foundation, the Rubys has created an opportunity for other funders to support artists

This Thursday, May 12, tune in to Maryland Public Television’s Artworks with Rhea Feiken at 8:30pm for the announcement of 2016 Baker Artist Awards, a program initiated by and in partnership with the William G, Baker, Jr. Memorial Fund. We have switched things up a bit this year by including a $50,000 Mary Sawyers Imboden Award among the five honors. Interested to see who is in the running? You can check out the finalists right now on the Baker Artist Portfolio site.

The Baltimore primary mayoral election results were certified today. GBCA extends congratulations to Democratic nominee Senator Catherine E. Pugh; Republican nominee Alan Walden; and the Green Party’s Joshua Harris who will face each other in the November election. You can find the arts and culture positions of all three on the Citizen Artist Baltimore website.

Please join GBCA on Wednesday for the noontime Brown Bag on Space at The Theatre Project. Guests from Fractured Atlas and Partners for Sacred Places will be discussing Baltimore Space Finder and opportunities available through Art in Sacred Places.

It’s great day for ducks,
