August 2016: HotHot – Call to artists

This month-long show at the Foundry’s new space near the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC is open to painting, drawing and mixed media by artists age 18 and up in Washington, Maryland or Virginia.

Work should not be more than 40” wide. If accepted it should be professionally presented, with a wire on the back, and works on paper should be framed. There is no theme. It will be hot in August.

All art will be for sale, and the gallery retains a 30% commission. Work may not be removed before the end of the show.

How to Enter Send up to five images by email to [email protected]. Be sure to include your name, address and telephone number. Please send images as jpg attachments, not embedded in the text, and at least 500k so they can be viewed clearly on a screen. File names should be in the form: your name – name of work – dimensions HxW – medium – price. For example: Siberry – Mimi on the Beach – 36 x 20 – oil on canvas – $1,500. If you want to pay by credit card send us a letter or email giving the name on the card, the card type, card number, ccv, and zip code of the billing address. We will run it once and destroy the information. We can only take Visa or Mastercard.

Schedule, notification and delivery

Application deadline June 15, 2016

Notification. June 30 Applicants will be told the results of the jury by email.

Delivery Accepted work must be delivered and picked up in person. Shipments cannot be accepted. Please bring accepted work to the gallery on Sunday, July 31 between 5:00 and 7:00 pm, or Monday, August 1 between 1:00 and 5:00 pm.

Show starts August 3

Opening reception August 6, 5 – 8 pm

Pick-up Unsold work must be picked up in person on Monday, August 29 between 1:00 and 6:00 pm.

Publicity and opening reception Foundry Gallery will prepare and send out a press release and otherwise publicize the exhibit. The gallery will also host an opening reception on Saturday, August 6 from 5 – 8 pm. Artists are encouraged to attend.

Liability and permission All care will be taken to ensure the safety of artwork. However, Foundry Gallery will not be liable for damage or loss that occurs during the delivery, exhibition or removal of artwork. Foundry will have the right to reproduce accepted work for publicity purposes. Submission of an entry application constitutes the artist’s agreement to all terms.
