Active Aging Week Workshops

Harmony: Exploring Relationships Between Art and Music
Monday, September 25, 10 am-12 pm
In this fun-filled workshop, participants will be led through a variety of art and music experiences designed to engage and delight the senses. We will be deepening our understanding of the connections between the visual arts and music. Participants should wear comfortable clothing and be prepared for art making and gentle movement.

Truly Creative Journaling
Wednesday, September 27, 10 am-12 pm
Get your creative juices flowing! Personalize a journal/sketchbook by creating a custom artistic cover, and learn some easy and fun ways to spark your creativity. The workshop will explore both visual arts and writing exercises, opening up the journaling process with free writing. Each participant will receive a blank sketchbook to decorate.

Adult Art Classes

Drawing
Wednesdays, beginning September 13, 6:30-8:30 pm, 8 weeks
This drawing course is a great class for anyone who wants to try their hand at something new or who wants to improve their artwork. The course provides artists with a solid foundation in drawing by working with a variety of materials and techniques. We teach students the importance of line, gesture, value, and perspective and how to use these tools in their work.

Jewelry Metalsmithing
Tuesdays, beginning September 12, 6:30-8:30 pm, 8 weeks
This class is perfect for those that have an interest or love for jewelry. Learn the proper and safe way to use power tools for the production of hand-constructed metal jewelry. Learn how different techniques are used to produce a finished piece of jewelry. A material fee is paid to the instructor on the first day of class.

Creative Kids Days
Creative Kids Days are all-day, structured art classes offered on days when Prince George’s County Public Schools are closed. Young artists are invited to join us for hands-on art activities that teach skills in art materials, core principles of art, and insights into world cultures. Before and After Care is available.

Open to ages 6-12.
