JUROR:
Jon West-Bey is an independent curator and museum consultant based in Washington, DC. He is also a Lecturer in the Museum Studies Program at Johns Hopkins University. During his over 20 year career, Jon has curated over 40 exhibitions and produced and managed numerous award-winning public, educational, and multimedia programs. Most recently, Jon was the Curator of the Arts Program at the University of Maryland University College (UMUC) where his work focused on developing the University’s visual art collection, curating UMUC’s public spaces, and producing exhibitions that featured artwork from local, national, and internationally known artists. He is also the founder of the American Poetry Museum in Washington, DC and, and spent 10 years as its Executive Director.

THEME:
Visualizing the Word
This exhibit seeks ekphrastic work that can include artwork inspired by literature or including literary work in the theme of the artwork. The exhibit is open to all visual mediums.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
Submit up to 3 digital files. Include an entry fee of $25 with your application. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

CONDITIONS:
All accepted work must be ready to hang or display. Two-dimensional work must have a braided picture wire on the back. Fragile media should be under plexiglass. Installation art must be prepared by the artist or have instructions that are easy to follow. The gallery reserves the right to refuse any piece that is improperly presented. All works are insured against physical damage or loss, from receipt through designated pickup time. If art is shipped to the gallery, the artist is responsible for shipping costs, both to and from the gallery.

Exhibit Dates: Nov. 26 – Jan 24

Reception: Tuesday, Nov. 26th, 5-7 pm

January 31 – Return/pick-up artwork (contact to arrange a pick-up time)
