Recidency: The Anderson Center

The Anderson Center’s residency aims to uphold the unique arts community in the Minnesota region; to develop, foster, and promote the creation of works by artists of all kinds; and to provide leadership and services that help to insure a stronger arts community and a greater recognition of the value of the arts in society.The Residency Program is open to emerging, mid-career, and established visual artists, writers, composers, choreographers, interdisciplinary artists, musicians, performance artists, scholars, and translators.

A completed application form includes a resume, CV, or biographical statement (3 pages maximum); a work plan; and a work sample.

Our program is interdisciplinary and we welcome applications from a wide range of creative and intellectual genres. The Anderson Center offers month-long residencies May through October with rare exceptions made for two-week stays. Residencies begin on the 1st of each month and end on the last day of each month.

The Anderson Center campus is on 350 acres of the historic Tower View Estate, built by Alexander Pierce Anderson between 1915 and 1922, on the western edge of Red Wing, Minnesota (population 16,500). Each resident is provided room, board, and workspace for the length of the residency period in the historic Tower View residence. Visual artists are provided a 15' x 26' studio and are responsible for supplying their own materials.
