Search for Performers: Our Town - Baltimore Center Stage

Re-discover the Pulitzer Prize-winning classic play as you’ve never seen it before, drawing inspiration from our town, Baltimore. Helmed by Obie Award winner Stevie Walker-Webb (who directed BCS’s acclaimed The Folks at Home), Our Town tells the story of a community: in their growing up and their marrying and their living and their dying. Widely regarded as the finest American play ever written, this Thornton Wilder masterpiece lifts up the beauty of ordinary human life and reminds us of how

SEEKING: Playful, inventive, and creative performers of all backgrounds and experience levels who live in or near the city of Baltimore to play various speaking roles that celebrate and represent the broad spectrum of people who make up, Our Town.

Rehearsals Begin: 08/16/2022

Performances Dates: 09/15/2022 – 10/09/2022

A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR: Our Our Town is anachronistic. It’s both then and now. While the language of the play reads like Grover’s Corners New Hampshire in 1901, we’re determined to create a theatrical world that sounds and feels like Baltimore, Maryland in 2022. That means ALL ARE WELCOME. It’s my goal to take this American classic and make it relatable and reflective of the diversity that makes up the eclectic city of Baltimore. More than anything I want to create a space where your unique and authentic interpretation can shine through. SO have fun with your audition, help us shake the dust off these characters and bring them to the here and now.
