BALTIMORE MOMUMENT LIGHTING EXHIBITION

Maryland Art Place (MAP), in partnership The Downtown Partnership of Baltimore (DPOB) is pleased to announce an open ‘Call to Artists’. As an extension of MAP’s annual IMPACT Projects, MAP is working with DPOB to offer a unique opportunity for artists of the greater Baltimore metropolitan area. Collectively, MAP and DPOB wish produce a small exhibition at the reception of the 45th Annual Monument Lighting this December. The work will be on display for one night during a private exhibition and exclusive after party. Exhibition attendance is expected to reach up to 175 guests.
ABOUT IMPACT PROJECTS: IMPACT is an annual, public art program developed to extend Maryland Art Place’s reach to broader audiences brining the work of living artists into the public eye. Each IMPACT project is unique and developed based on the partnering site.
ABOUT THE MONUMENT LIGHTING: The Annual Downtown Partnership Monument Lighting will take place on Thursday, December 1, 2016. Now in its 45th year, The Monument Lighting feature local entertainers, food, holiday activities, and a spectacular fireworks display.
A holiday village featuring food vendors, a beer garden for adults, and a special Kids Corner take place in the parks that surround the historic monument, the Nation’s first honoring George Washington.
What began as a quiet gathering of neighbors more than four decades ago has grown steadily over the years to become one of the metropolitan region’s favorite holiday events. In 2015, nearly ten thousand people attended the event.. The event is produced by Downtown Partnership of Baltimore with support from The Baltimore Office of Promotion and The Arts and the Baltimore Department of Recreation and Parks.
General Guidelines & Information
- MAP will accept both 2-D and 3-D works for exhibition - photography, painting, mixed media or similar welcomed.
- Artwork must be for sale and ready to hang (work may be rejected if of poor production standards)
- Sales split 40% to MAP / 60% to artist
- An exhibition reception will take place after Monument Lighting on Park Ave. The exact address will be announced closer to the date.

Increased visibility of artist’s name and artwork through:
- Artist’s name highlighted on DPOB social media
- Artist highlighted on MAP and DPOB’s websites

Application Fee: $10 for non MAP members
Submit your fee by clicking on “Get Involved”, “Donate” on MAP’s website and simply adjust the fee to $10. Please attach your payment receipt to your application.
