Job Description

Maryland Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts (MdVLA) is looking for a detail-oriented individual with excellent communication and organizational skills to join us as our full-time Program Manager. You do not need to be a lawyer or possess a J.D. to apply for this position. The Program Manager will be responsible for overseeing and executing our Pro Bono Legal Services programs, including our Pro Bono Referral Program and Art Law Clinic, as well as coordinating our professional development events.

Duties may include:

● Communicating with individual artists and arts organizations regarding their needs and/or interest in pro bono legal services and educational opportunities.

● Interacting with our network of volunteer attorneys to pair lawyers with artists who need help with arts related legal services.

● Working with community member organizations to develop and nurture new workshops.

● Developing strategies for volunteer attorney recruitment and retention.

● Overseeing an MdVLA Program Associate, who is responsible for the bulk of MdVLA legal intakes and communications efforts.

● Assisting MdVLA in the maintenance of its Salesforce database, including running reports and analyzing data.

● Conducting surveys and evaluations for MdVLA’s programs.

● Other related administrative tasks.

The duties will require work on some nights and weekends.

Candidates should:

● Have a passion for interacting with and participating in different creative communities.

● Be a detail oriented, self-starting, multi-tasker.

● Be comfortable communicating in-person (when safe to do so), over the phone and over email with people from radically different backgrounds in an empathetic and pragmatic way, including artists, lawyers, and other members of the community.

● Have an interest in legal, business, and entrepreneurial issues related to artists and other creatives.

● Be interested in assisting with MdVLA’s continued development of systems for equity, inclusion, and diversity within the organization.

● Have a familiarity with G Suite, Microsoft Office, and Salesforce or open to learning new administrative applications.

● Be willing to work at an organization that continually strives to learn, improve, and grow.

Salary Range and Benefits:

● $50,000 - $55,000.

● Health Care Insurance Plan.

● Simple IRA with 3% company match.

● Generous PTO allotment.
