Chesapeake Shakespeare seeks Development Manager of Individual Giving

Chesapeake Shakespeare Company, a $1.2 million theatre company opening in September its brand new 260 seat theatre in Downtown Baltimore and its first seven show season, is seeking a Development Manager of Individual Giving.

The Manager of Individual Giving conceives of and manages all fundraising regarding individual and major donor activities for Chesapeake Shakespeare Company. A particular focus is expanding the pool of major donors, both for annual giving and to close out the capital campaign. The Development Manager of Individual Giving reports to the Managing Director and works as part of the development team.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop annual and long-term individual fundraising goals, with a focus on expanding the pool of major donors, in collaboration with the Managing Director and Artistic Director.
  • Work with Capital Campaign Team to complete the Capital Campaign, including raising unraised monies and developing and cultivating donors
  • Supervise and coordinate all fundraising activities relating to individual giving, including major donor cultivation and annual appeals. Create all individual fundraising materials. Track and process all gifts. Manage donor e-newsletter. Analyze and report on individual income and trends.
  • Manage a portfolio of major donors and prospects, devising cultivation strategies and time-lines for each individual and serving as an organizational ambassador; Set up appropriate meetings for Managing Director and/or Artistic Director.
  • Serve as a project manager and on-site point person for cultivation, stewardship, and fundraising events
  • Working in collaboration with the Development Team, set up and strengthen systems for tracking interactions with donors

Qualifications:

  • At least three years of development or related non-profit experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience required
  • Proven track record of fund raising success; experience increasing individual giving preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with diplomatic demeanor
  • Strategic thinker and excellent leadership and supervisory skills
  • Strong writing skills
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational and planning skills
  • A high level of computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and database experience; PatronManager/SalesManager experience is a plus.
  • Polished, polite, friendly manner; must enjoy working with the public
  • Availability to work at events and area performances (evenings and weekends) as needed
