SINGLE CARROT THEATRE SEEKS STAGE MANAGER FOR UPCOMING PRODUCTION OF PROMENADE: BALTIMORE

Single Carrot Theatre seeks a qualified STAGE MANAGER for our upcoming production of Promenade: Baltimore!

This production does not take place in a theatre but rather on the streets around the city of Baltimore while the audience watches actors from a bus that drives a 12 mile round trip journey from Single Carrot Theatre. We are looking for a Stage Manager that is adaptive and flexible.

About the Promenade: Baltimore

This dynamic production, a collaboration between SCT and Hungarian theatre company StereoAkt, invites its audience to board a bus that traverses the city, passing through neighborhoods both familiar and unknown. Audience members watch through the windows as actors on the street present poetic expressions of everyday life in Baltimore, complimented by a live-mixed soundscape of music, narration, and stories based on and told by neighborhood residents.

Responsibilities and Expectations

The ideal Stage Manager for this position will be flexible and excited to work on a non-traditional theatre project. Unlike productions that take place in a theatre, Promenade: Baltimore will take place around the streets of Baltimore, in a variety of neighborhoods. Actors will be outside in public space and the audience will be on a bus that moves through the city. The Stage Manager will be responsible for implementing and coordinating the logistics of the movement of the bus/audience as well as the transportation of all of the performers and crew. The Stage Manager will work with the producer and director as well as the technical team from Hungary to ensure that the bus sound system is loaded, set and operating before each show and then off loaded each night following every performance. They will ensure that each location where the bus will stop is prepped and set. They will coordinate with Costume & Prop Designer to make sure that all wardrobe and props are set in actor transportation cars and other locations. The Stage Manager is responsible for attending production meetings, coordinating rehearsal schedule, and sending reports for meetings, rehearsals and performances.

The ideal candidate is flexible, adaptive and highly organized, with strong attention to detail, and comfortable working in highly collaborative environments.

Pay is a $650 honorarium, to be paid within two weeks of the end of the contract.

Pertinent production dates are as follows:

Start date: April 10th

Rehearsals: May 1-27th

Tech: May 28th - June 1st

Performances: June 2nd - June 25th

Rehearsals

SCT’s rehearsal schedule for this production will be a bit different than a typical SCT production. Rehearsals will begin May 1st and run throughout the month of May till the show opens on June 2nd. Rehearsal will be between 3pm and 9pm on Weekdays and Full Days during Weekends.
