BSO seeks Education Program Coordinator

The Education Program Coordinator coordinates essential BSO Education programs including The BSO Academy, Continuing Education Programs, and Musical Mentors. Reporting to the Director of Education, this position also interacts with the VP of Education and Community Engagement, and is an integral part of the BSO Education & Community Engagement team.

This position requires a high level ability to multi-task, to manage projects of considerable complexity with accuracy and attention to detail, knowledge of instrumental music, and excellent customer relations skills.

This position also has logistical and operations responsibilities in the education department relating to website, tessitura, and communications. Specific areas in this area include budget, ticket sales for education activities, education communications, and social media.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Coordinate the BSO Academy Programs

a. Integral part of the Academy planning team;

b. Responsible for all participant registration and acts as primary contact for participants and all Academy inquiries;

c. Create application forms, overseeing website updates;

d. Distribute music & parts to participants;

e. Work with BSO Program Advisor;

f. Track budget and process program fees;

g. Responsible for coordinating all logistics relating to the Academy;

h. Act as primary contact to vendors;

i. Disseminate surveys, provide assessment and produce reports;

j. Work with interns and volunteers.

2. Coordinate Continuing Education Programs

a. Work with participants;

b. Plan, organize and oversee day-of logistics;

c. Track program budgets;

d. Primary contact for vendors, artistic, operations dept.;

e. Disseminate surveys, provide assessment and produce reports;

3. Coordinate Musical Mentors Program

a. Act as primary contact for groups seeking BSO Musician masterclasses;

b. Arrange logistics for program activities;

c. Work with Group Sales to coordinate ticket sales and activities;

d. Track program budget;

e. Disseminate surveys, provide assessment and produce reports;

4. Assist with website updates, social media communications, tessitura integration with website, including education e-blasts, and other communications;

5. Oversee education ticket sales for all programs

6. Communicate with various education constituencies.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Interacts with BSO departments as needed;

2. Engages interns and volunteers to assist on many projects;

3. Creates reports as needed relating to the above programs

4. Assists with other areas of communication for the department;

5. Participates in department meetings;

6. Serves a team member of the Education and Community Engagement Department;

7. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree, with background in music;

2. Substantial knowledge and ability in areas relating to computer literacy, using standard software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook; Ability to learn other software programs as needed; Experience with and proficient use of Tessitura software a plus

3. Strong writing and communication skills, including with social media;

4. Excellent customer relations skills;

5. Demonstrated success running and coordinating educational programs;

6. Must demonstrate initiative and strong problem resolution, and be able to participate successfully in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment;

7. Demonstrated superior organizational skills, attention to detail, the ability to meet deadlines;

8. Proven ability to handle operational logistics; with at least one year (two years or more preferred) of experience handling operations for large/multi-faceted events that extend over a period of days;

9. Proven ability to handle budgets and related financial processes;

10. Ability to work with on-line application forms, collection of multiple data points, updates to the website.

Compensation and Benefits

1. Salary: $30,000 - $34,000 (Yearly Salary), based on qualifications and experience
