Reports to Vice President of Education and Community Engagement
Class: Exempt
Summary: The Education Assistant provides programmatic and technical support to the Education Department and is a collegial and creative member of the team. This position serves as the point of contact for the department. While this position reports to the Vice President of Education and Community Engagement, it interacts and works with other members of the department as relates to specific program areas, most specifically the Director of Education and the Director of Communit Engagement.
This position requires excellent customer relations and communication skills and a high level of ability to multi-task.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Oversees and handles ticket and enrollment orders for education concerts and activities; works with volunteers
2. Serves as point of contact for the public, inquiring about or enrolling in educational activities;
3. Processes orders for supplies, handles invoices and agreements, expedites expense reports, and tracks budgets;
4. Communicates with participants of programs as needed and necessary;
5. Creates email and other communications for the department and various programs as needed;
6. Does research for department;
7. Handles logistical and operational needs for education programs and activities; works with volunteers and staff;
8. Assists with education website management and innovation;
9. Assists with follow-up details after specific programs;
10. Maintains the Education Calendar;
11. Handles all logistics relating to Tessitura and other software systems that support the EducationDepartment.
12. Coordinates all data for and creates the annual Education and Community Engagement Report
13. Takes minutes at all education department related meetings.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Interacts with BSO departments as needed;
2. Engages volunteers to assist on many projects;
3. Creates reports as needed;
4. Assists with other areas of communication for the department;
5. Takes minutes at meetings;
6. Participates in department meetings;
7. Represents the department in areas related to technology, Tessitura, the web, etc.;
8. Ensures standardization of operation procedures within the department;
9. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in administration, business, or a related field; background in music preferred;
2. Substantial knowledge and ability in areas relating to computer literacy, using standard software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook; Ability to learn other software programs as needed; Experience with and proficient use of Tessitura software a plus;
3. Ability to manage the BSO Education Website, making changes as needed, and recommending upgrades;
4. Excellent customer relations skills
5. Excellent communications skills involving writing, speaking, taking minutes and other forms of communication;
6. Must demonstrate initiative and strong problem resolution, and be able to participate successfully in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
7. Demonstrated superior organizational skills, attention to detail, the ability to meet deadlines.
8. Proven ability to handle operational logistics; with at least one year of experience handling operations for large/multi-faceted events;
9. Proven ability to handle budgets and related financial processes;

Compensation and Benefits
1. Salary: $25,000 - $27,000 (10-11 month full-time), based on qualifications and experience
