Young Audiences/Arts for Learning (YA), a nonprofit organization that has been bringing the arts into the lives and education of Maryland's youth for over 60 years, is seeking an Education Intern. The Education Intern is responsible for working with the Education Director to provide administrative and technical assistance in managing professional development programs and other services that enhance the ability of teaching artists, cultural organizations and teachers to transform learning through the arts.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, if not meticulous, a self starter and have excellent communication and customer service skills. Availability to work across the state and some evenings and weekends (as many of our professional development programs occur) are a plus.
Tasks/Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with coordinating logistics of educational programs such as: The Teaching Artist Institute (TAI) and other professional development workshops
- Fielding initial inquiries for professional development requests from schools across the state
- Fielding inquiries from artists and cultural groups interesting in partnering with Young Audiences
- Scheduling meetings
- Organizing, filing, and maintaining documentation for programs
- Managing logistics, hospitality plans for programs and providing on-site support
- Maintaining communication with teaching artists, staff, and program participants
- Going on site visits to photograph, gather quotes, and document outcomes of programs
- Create and maintain databases for program registration
- Distribution, collection, and analysis of program surveys and evaluation
- Representing YA at select showcases throughout the year
- Being familiar with all of Young Audiences programs in order to be able to discuss them with school liaison and be able to answer their program questions
- Working with the YA staff as needed on special projects
About the Internship:
● The ideal candidate will be able to start in September 2014 and intern for at least 12 weeks
● Work Schedule: Flexible; Maximum of 15 hours per week
● Compensation: College credit or small stipend available.
