The Walters seeks Engineering Technician

The Walters Art Museum has an immediate need for a trained and experienced hands-on HVAC professional to provide support to the Engineering Department. Reporting to the Manager of Engineering, the incumbent is responsible for:

  • Monitoring museum temps/humidity through the automated system and make changes as necessary; notifying supervisor of any equipment malfunctions or erratic temp/humidity readings.

  • Performing preventative maintenance of facility mechanical systems to minimize failures by performing maintenance tasks on building equipment; maintaining overall cleanliness, condition, and safety of all mechanical area, making minor equipment repairs.

  • Assisting with contractors by monitoring and assisting contractor activities as assigned; reporting contractor activities summary to manager.

  • Providing 24-hour on-call rotation coverage as assigned and assisting other engineers are required.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a reputable HVAC trade school or 2 years of facilities mechanical maintenance experience.

  • Knowledgeable of proper mechanical equipment preventative maintenance.

  • Skilled in the proper use of hand and power tools.

  • Ability to follow directions and safely complete tasks without direct supervision.

  • Ability to work with ladders and lift 50 lbs.

  • Requires rotating on-call status; must have a flexible schedule and be available 24/7 as needed.
