Chesapeake Shakespeare seeks ACTORS

The Chesapeake Shakespeare Company is seeking adult non-equity actors for our spring matinee production of ROMEO AND JULIET directed by Ian Gallanar. This production rehearses and performs weekdays for school groups from throughout the region at our downtown theater space.

Seeking

PRINCE: Black/African American, any age, any gender or gender expression

LORD CAPULET: Black/African American, any age, male identifying

SWING/UNDERSTUDY: Any race or ethnicity, 20’s, male identifying

Covid Policies

All actors will be required to be fully vaccinated and boosted and provide proof. Artists may be required to submit to weekly Covid testing. Health and safety of the cast and production members are an absolute priority. All current COVID regulations (in accordance with the State of Maryland, Baltimore City and Actor’s Equity Association) will be followed during all days of rehearsal and performance.

Production Information

Rehearsal and most performances will take place at our downtown space on S Calvert St. Rehearsals are Monday-Friday 10am-3pm. Performances will be at 10am.

This production will also have a short engagement in Frederick, Maryland. Transportation and/or travel compensation will be provided. The schedule for the Frederick tour differs from the Baltimore schedule, including a two show day and evening performance. Actors will be expected to help with load in and load out.

Compensation for PRINCE and LORD CAPULET $200 per week minimum.

Compensation for SWING/UNDERSTUDY is $1200.

First rehearsal: February 14, 2023

Tech: March 6-10, 2023

Opening: March 13, 2023

Frederick Run: April 1-6, 2023

Closing: April 28, 2023

Possible extension: May 1-31, 2023
