Glen Echo Pottery Seeks Executive Director

Glen Echo Pottery (GEP) is seeking a full-time Executive Director responsible for the management and administration of its ceramic arts-based education programs. GEP is a mid size non-profit school with a mission to “build and sustain a strong, inclusive ceramic arts community focused on both individual learning and collaborative pursuits of excellence in clay. Anchoring our programs in strong instruction and inspiration, we strive to create opportunities for all participants to share their skills, artistry, and joy with others within and beyond the bounds of our studio.”

Located in historic Glen Echo Park (Glen Echo, Maryland), our pottery is the Park’s longest-operating resident community arts program and will soon celebrate its 50th anniversary as a fully-operational school and studio. Our year-round classes serve almost 200 students (90% adults) every multi-week session and include team-based activities that encourage experimentation in diverse making and firing methods. Through our Darby Fund Community Outreach Program, GEP student volunteers collaborate with schools and community centers to lead hands-on workshops with children, teens and families in underserved areas in Montgomery County, MD and the District of Columbia.

The GEP Executive Director position is responsible for annual budget development and financial management, grant-writing/reporting/grant cycle management, overall program administration and assessment, staff recruitment/contract management, volunteer management, DEIA strategy implementation and oversight, community outreach program administration, and internal/ external communication, including communication support systems development and liaising with Glen Echo Park management and State and County arts and granting organizations.

The Executive Director will work closely with the GEP Artistic/Facilities Director in the on-going coordination of classes, special/auxiliary programs, and facility improvement projects.

The Executive Director reports directly to the GEP Board of Directors.
