Rawlings Conservatory seeks Horticultural Assistant

Baltimore City Department of Recreation and Parks Horticulture Division is hiring a Horticultural Assistant based out of the Rawlings Conservatory. This is a full-time, benefited position. Driver’s license required.

Candidates who have experience with landscaping, tropical and desert greenhouse plants, and garden design are especially encouraged to apply.

Description:

  • Work Schedule: Tuesday – Saturday (1 weekend day required)
  • Shifts vary seasonally: 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM or 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Occasional evenings & extra hours available

Duties include:

  • Greenhouse plant care (watering, pruning, fertilizing, sweeping)
  • Grounds and outdoor garden maintenance (weeding, planting, mulching, watering, string trimming, mowing)
  • Visitor support (occasionally work front desk, phones, gift shop, event rentals)
  • Winter and spring flower displays (design, install, maintain, uninstall)
