Deep Vision Dance Company, Inc. seeks a high quality Rehearsal Director with a passion for the arts and community work. This organized, confident, and detail-oriented individual is committed to working in a collaborative, energetic, and professional environment and values honest communication.
Founded in 2011, Deep Vision Dance Company is a Baltimore-based nonprofit organization operating under a mission to engage, inspire, and motivate the community through high quality dance performances and educational experiences. The organization is dedicated to producing visually stunning and emotionally moving choreographic art in the Baltimore/DC area and beyond. DVDC creates a "company" home for dancers, collaborates with local artists, plays a role in sustaining the Baltimore arts scene, and educates the community through workshops, classes, and mentoring programs. Primary Responsibilities:
- Direct rehearsals and manage the dancers during the rehearsal and performance period
- Support the Artistic Director in realizing the company’s vision
- Assist in developing and assessing dancers and making decisions regarding creative and practical elements of production
- Teach company class (intermediate/advanced modern)
- Document rehearsals and company meetings
- Mentor apprentices
- Undertake management and administrative duties
- Attend management, company, and production meetings and communicate with production staff
- Submit regular updates to the Artistic Director
Requirements
- A minimum of four years experience in rehearsal directing and/or teaching upper level modern technique
- Experience in collaborating, partnering, contact improvisation, and community engagement
- Flexible availability during rehearsal and production periods
- Strong administrative and organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills, a collaborative style, and the ability to provide high levels of customer service,
