Howard County Arts Council seeks Development Assistant

The Howard County Arts Council, a multi-purpose non-profit arts agency, seeks a self-directed, outgoing individual for an entry to mid-level Development position in a small, fast-paced office environment. The successful candidate will report to the Executive Director and will be responsible for Board correspondence and administration; development and donor administration; special event administration and coordination; financial record keeping; office efficiency; and clerical support for the Executive Director.

Duties include, but are not limited to: maintaining membership database and mailing lists; administrative and financial bookkeeping; Board communications and coordination; recording and tracking contributions; acknowledging donors; coordinating membership drives, special events, and Board meetings; creating finance and fundraising spreadsheets; corporate and foundation prospect research; grants administration; administrative, financial, personnel, insurance, and equipment record-keeping; making bank deposits; answering phones; and providing administrative and general office support.

Qualifications include: B.A. with proven commitment to non-profit work. Two – three years experience in non-profit administration with one plus year in a development position preferred. Experience in small non-profit arts agency preferred. Must be able to use a personal computer and have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office or similar applications. Must have own transportation; be able to operate an automobile, computers and related office equipment; occasionally lift up to 50 pounds; remain seated for long periods of time; and bend, stoop, reach, and climb without difficulty.

This is a full-time, entry to mid-level position in a mid-sized non-profit arts organization; occasional evening/week-end hours are required.
