Single Carrot Theatre Seeks Actors of Indian Descent for Season 10!

The Show:

SCT is thrilled to be producing Samsara as part of its 10th season. Written by Lauren Yee, this story of an American couple's journey through surrogacy is set in California and Ahmedabad, India. It is a fun, funny, and poignant look at the lengths people will go for what they want and the unexpected ways they may be changed. The show will rehearse from mid-November 2016 to mid-January 2017. The show will run for approximately one month, from mid-January to mid-February.

The Characters:

Suraiya (F, 18-30) is a young Gujarati woman acting as surrogate for Katie and Craig. She is an aspiring doctor and plans to use the money she will earn as a surrogate to pay her tuition to medical school. She is wry, sarcastic, and driven. (Also plays Baby - Katie's dream-sequence-vision of the child Suraiya will bear)

Amit (M, 18-45) is a Gujarati man, around Suraiya's age in appearance, he is actually a manifestation of the child Suraiya is carrying. Only Suraiya can see Amit, but he sees and comments on everything happening around them. He is incredibly smart, and by turns pushy, pouty, and smug. He loves Suraiya deeply. (Also plays several other characters)
