Maryland Federation of Art Art Management Fellowship

Specific Duties Include:

EXHIBITIONS:

• Attends Exhibition Committee meetings and works with committee Chair to prepare agenda items.

• Assists the Exhibition Committee in obtaining jurors for all national, regional and member shows. Maintains a list of jurors.

• Suggests show chairs from member volunteers.

• Works with show chairs on national shows. Meets with Show Chairs as soon as they are chosen to coordinate exhibit activity and update Chair on exhibition procedures.

• Makes ID tags for artwork in each show.

• Coordinates shipping to and from gallery for all national shows.

• Coordinates Solo and Small Group and small space shows with Executive Director and Exhibition Committee. Prepares contract and collects Gallery rental fees. Meets with artists prior to exhibition to coordinate publicity, invitations and receptions.

• Assists with all MFA installations.

• Assists with set up take down of gallery receptions.

• With Exhibition Committee helps coordinate all alternative space exhibitions.

• Maintains records for all MFA exhibitions including but not limited to list of artists, list of artwork, and income/expense.

• Maintains folder of all exhibition materials.

COMMUNICATIONS

• Advertises national exhibitions in appropriate media outlets as provided for in the budget. Research and implement advertising campaigns for each individual exhibition Call for Entry.

• Maintain website including all exhibition and membership information • Distributes media press releases for Gallery events and related follow up.

• Works with Exhibition committee to create postcards and handles all email announcements for each show. Manages all gallery mailings. • Create signage for exhibitions as needed.

• Circulates posters and postcard announcements to area businesses.

• Coordinates catalog for each show.

• Maintains folder of all exhibition materials.

MEMBERSHIP

• Maintains and updates database with membership information.

• Organizes membership information packets for distribution.

• Works with Professional Development committee to develop a series of workshops to provide professional development and artist critiques for member artists.

• Works with Executive Director and Membership Committee on membership renewals.

• Works with and trains gallery volunteers.

DATABASE/FILES • Maintains FILEMAKER PRO database with updated information.

• Maintains gallery files and lists of volunteer information.

DAILY/WEEKLY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Pick up mail from Post Office at least weekly.

• Greets all Gallery visitors (who have priority over phone calls and office work). Invited visitors to sign mailing list and keep and daily record of gallery visitors with any pertinent information noted. Promoted gallery membership to all visitors – artists and possible supporters.

• Put signs out daily.

• Light housekeeping: keep office clean, sweep/vacuum as needed, water plants outside, water outside plants as needed, put out trash for daily pick-up. Clear snow from walkway as needed.

• Makes sure alarm is set each evening before leaving, turn off lights and turn down heat/air conditioning.
