Education Coordinator for Chesapeake Shakespeare Company

Chesapeake Shakespeare Company seeks an organized, enthusiastic, self-motivated, and reliable Education Coordinator for its student matinee, in-school residency, and Studio programming.

The Education Coordinator reports to and assists the Director of Education and plays a central role in welcoming the 15,000+ students we serve annually. The Coordinator schedules workshops and residencies state-wide, provides resources for and liaises with teachers, and shares our partnership, marketing, and production/event news. The position is ideal for those experienced with arts in education, theatre for diverse audiences, and K-12 educators and students. This staff member also works closely with the Director of The Studio and dozens of Teaching Artists, as well as collaborating with colleagues in Production, Finance, Marketing, and Development.

Position Responsibilities:

Facilitate clear communication between CSC Education and educators, district/school staff, community partners, and special programs.

Follow company procedure in generating, receiving, filing, scheduling, and sharing student matinee accounts. Collaborate with staff to coordinate in-theatre events.

Collaborate with Production on casting for student matinees, with Box Office on ushers and house management, with Resident and Teaching Artists (Actors, Directors, Designers, Choreographers) on Marketing and development events.

Coordinate and assist Director of Education with lesson plans, approaches, and professional development items. Confirm schedule for Teaching Artists in residencies, workshops, and classes.

Assist in cultivating partnerships within international, national, and regional peers.

Contribute directly into Artistic (hosting productions), Development (events), Marketing (website/brochure content), and Education programs, including working additional hours as a Teaching Artist as needed.

This individual will be responsible for managing the administrative side of the program, including but not limited to securing agreements with schools, executing and filing teaching artist contracts, data entry, account reconciliation in conjunction with Finance, and scheduling teaching artist training and programmatic site visits.

Experience and Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in arts/communications/theatre/education, or commensurate experience.

Knowledge of developmental stages (PK-12), arts-integration, local and national English/Language Arts/Fine Arts standards.

Ideal candidates will be highly organized and excel in time management and prioritization.

Flexibility, patience, and strong customer service skills are essential for this position.

Ability to manage multiple programs simultaneously and meet deadlines on a consistent schedule.

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Must provide own transportation as local and regional travel along with some evening and weekend hours required.

Experience with CRM (Salesforce, PatronManager preferred) and web-based form management systems (Wufoo preferred)

Experience with email marketing platforms (MailChimp) preferred

Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Office 365 and SharePoint Online a plus)
