Cohesion Theatre Company seeks a Scenic Designer for 13 Dead Husbands

Scenic Designer – 13 Dead Husbands at Cohesion Theatre Company (contract, stipend)

Cohesion Theatre Company is seeking a Scenic Designer for its production of 13 Dead Husbands by Tom Horan which runs March 12 – 29, 2015 in the Highlandtown Arts and Entertainment District.

A Baltimore premiere production, 13 Dead Husbands tells the fanciful story of Dee-Dee, “the most beautiful woman in the world”, and the men who come from far and wide to woo and wed her, only to end up dead under mysterious circumstances. As friends Marcel and Jean Pierre compete for her hand, they ask if one of them should marry her, will they live to enjoy it? Told with charming humor and a surreal and fantastic design, Husbands champions the simplicity of love, and the joy of possibility.

Ideal applicants have experience with theatrical scenic design and construction, and are able to work within the confines of a small but reasonable budget. The production is contemporary with some elements of the fantastic and surreal mixed in, including some emphasis on shadow puppetry. The chosen party would be responsible for the design and overseeing the execution of all scenic elements of the show, while also working closely with the Director, Lighting Designer, and Costume Designer to form a cohesive vision for the production design. The ideal applicant will also have excellent organizational and time-management abilities. This is a contracted position with a stipend. Interested parties please send a letter of interest and resume to [email protected]. Applications are due by December 22nd, 2014.
