Cohesion Theatre Company seeks a Costume Designer for 13 Dead Husbands

Costume Designer – 13 Dead Husbands at Cohesion Theatre Company (contract, stipend)

Cohesion Theatre Company is seeking a Costume Designer for its production of 13 Dead Husbands by Tom Horan which runs March 12 – 29, 2015 in the Highlandtown Arts and Entertainment District.

A Baltimore premiere production, Thirteen Dead Husbands tells the fanciful story of Dee-Dee, “the most beautiful woman in the world”, and the men who come from far and wide to woo and wed her, only to end up dead under mysterious circumstances. As friends Marcel and Jean Pierre compete for her hand, they ask if one of them should marry her, will they live to enjoy it? Told with charming humor and a surreal and fantastic design, Husbands champions the simplicity of love, and the joy of possibility.

Ideal applicants have experience with theatrical costume design and construction, and are able to work within the confines of a small but reasonable budget. The production is contemporary with some elements of the fantastic and surreal mixed in. The chosen party would be responsible for the design and execution of all costume related elements of the show, while also working closely with the Director, Lighting Designer, and Scenic Designer to form a cohesive vision for the production design. There are currently 9 male roles and 2 female roles, with the possibility of some additional musicians being costumed on stage as well. The ideal applicant will also have excellent organizational and time-management abilities and possess good written and oral communication skills. This is a contracted position with a stipend. Interested parties please send a letter of interest and resume to [email protected]. Applications are due by December 22nd, 2014.
